Al Ain International Aviation Academy
av_coll.jpgFrom September 2008, IAT will be opening Al Ain International Aviation Academy located next to the airport in Al Ain. Emirati students will be able to receive professional training for jobs as aircraft engineers, technicians and other specialist roles.

Mission

The Al Ain International Aviation Academy aims to:
  • Provide comprehensive aviation and aerospace related education and training that:
    • is both nationally & internationally accredited
    • leads to academic and professional qualifications/awards
    • prepares graduates for immediate productive careers in aviation & aerospace related fields

  • promote a campus environment that welcomes and honours women and men of all nationalities
  • create an atmosphere that values pursuit of knowledge, skills and integrity

Location and Facilities

The Academy occupies approximately 49 acres (197,000 sq m) of land at the Al Ain International Airport. The unique helicopter rotor shaped building structure has a capacity to facilitate training for around 600 students and includes:
  • 2850 sq m hangar that can easily accommodate an Airbus A 310 or several commuter aircraft
  • 3,600 sq m fully operational helicopter tarmac
  • 24 state-of the-art classrooms
  • 10 Aircraft related Workshops, including, aircraft sheet metal, composites, NDT, turbine engines, etc
  • 14 Labs (Electronics/Avionics/Computing)
  • 31 Offices for Management and Faculty
  • Internet Center, CBT Classrooms
  • Cafeteria - seating capacity for 160 students
  • Learning Resource Centre/Library
  • Students rest area

Pathways

AAIAA Diploma and Higher Diploma Graduates may apply for full-time or part-time related professional degree courses at local or overseas universities. Graduates depending on their results may be eligible to apply for exemptions of between one to two years from a three year Bachelors degree program.

Employers: The Academy will support both civil & defense sectors and has ties with Etihad, Abu Dhabi Aviation, ADAT, UAE Armed Forces & Police Force.

Higher Education: The Academy is expected to be a partner institution of the proposed Abu Dhabi based Khalifa University of Science, Technology and Research in Abu Dhabi (KUSTAR) which will offer Bachelors, Masters & PhD programs in Aeronautical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Air Transport Engineering & Aviation Management.
