About IAT TEC
IAT is proud to announce its forthcoming 7th annual IAT Technological Education Conference (IAT TEC). The conference theme, “Transforming Learning through Creative Classrooms” aims to provide a platform for developing creative approaches to STEAM classroom practices via the use of a diverse range of pedagogical strategies.
The Institute of Applied Technology prepares students for life and work in a changing economic environment where they will thrive in an era of increasingly rapid change. Besides acquiring the necessary technological skills there is a strong requirement for students to possess a well-developed set of higher-order skills. One of our goals is to stimulate the natural curiosity in young minds and cultivate a passion for learning whereby students will have the ability to think creatively and approach tasks, problems and situations with confidence and resourcefulness.
Creativity is closely linked to strong academic performance, it can be the hook which engages learners, influencing their attainment and achievement; it involves looking at the familiar with a fresh eye, examining problems with an open mind, making connections, learning from mistakes and using imagination to explore new possibilities. In addition to the above, creativity skills can help learners to be:
- Motivated and ambitious for change
- Confident in their abilities
- Able to transfer their creativity skills to various contexts
- Able to lead and work well with others
This event will focus on bringing the academic community together to highlight and share creative teaching practices, creativity in the classroom in general and tips and tricks on how to overcome the challenges of implementing a creative classroom.
The conference will provide a wide variety of presentations and workshops to attract attendees and engage their interests; as in past IAT TEC conferences the Exhibition area will host the “iPresent” showcase in which teachers present exceptional/innovative-learning activities that they have created and implemented in their classrooms.

Abstract
This presentation explores current technology trends and how they have evolved from being a classroom luxury to playing a major role in delivering educational programs. From corporate learning initiatives, K-12 schools to vocational and higher education institutions students are being exposed to more and more technology in the classroom. In fact, it is often students who are the driving force behind technology adoption by learning institutions, whether it is to secure institutional success through the management of student career success, or to attract more students and improve enrolment in an increasingly competitive industry.
This session will demonstrate some of the tools that assist instructors manage their day-to-day course work and the role that innovative learning management tools play in ensuring a better learning experience, now and in the future. It will also address some of the challenges that instructors face in coping with the change and demand of technology when using the internet to deliver course work.
